While doing your holiday shopping downtown, come in out of the cold and join the Iowa City Press-Citizen on stage at The Englert Theatre for an “In situ” open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15.
“In situ: A collection of literary and visual arts from the Iowa City area” features fiction, non-fiction, poetry, essays, oratory, painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, collage and much more, all produced by local residents.
Here’s your chance to see the artwork, maybe meet the artists and hear the writers read their works. Support your neighbors, co-workers, friends and community members by stopping in to check out the gallery set up on stage, sit down and listen to writers read their works and enjoy the snacks and hot beverages provided by the Iowa City Downtown Association.
“In situ: A collection of literary and visual arts in the Iowa City area” is here and available for purchase. The books will be available for $12.99 through the Press-Citizen and at area retailers such as Lenoch & Cilek, Prairie Lights, Iowa Book & Supply, Iowa Artisans Gallery, Barnes and Noble, University Bookstore, Ben Franklin, Chait Galleries and MC Ginsberg.
To order your copy of "In situ," call 319-887-5430. We would be happy to mail you your copy if you would like. Shipping and handling is $3 for one book and $5 for two or more. You also may stop into the Press-Citizen office, 1725 N. Dodge St., to pick it up.
If you order "In situ," you also may buy a copy of
"Iowa City, A Sense of Place: Volume 2," a history of
Iowa City through photos, for only $9.99.
Thank you to everyone who shared their literary and visual arts with us for “In situ.” We were thrilled to receive 383
submissions. The decision-making process was difficult,
but we have chosen 96 works for the book.
Click on the link to the left to read about the writers and artists
who are included in our inaugural "In situ: A collection of literary
and visual artists from the Iowa City area."
You may still submit works, and we will be happy to hold
on to them should we publish another edition in 2008.
We look forward to seeing the finished product,
and it’s because of all of you. Thanks again!
